The Bean Barn   |
17 seat space but do not do short order food. Locally made muffins – 2 savoury and 2 sweet, a fresh cake of the day , slices and bars (locally baked in Ballarat). Our coffee selection is vast and mostly single origin. All is roasted in-store at least three times a week. We have only 3 blends – our espresso blend (Mopoke), our plunger blend (Gum Tree Flat) and a Swiss Water De-caff blend. All others are single origin: Colombia, Costa Rica, Ethiopia, Yemen, Kenya, India, Mexico, New Guinea, Nicaragua and Fairtrade coffees from Nicaragua, Mexico, Peru and Timor L’Este.
We are right next door to Ballarat Town Hall so we are easy to find.

Better now Since the last review i believe this specialist coffee roaster has improved vastly. While Fairtrade has been dropped they now have ethically traded coffee - a much more transparent option. The Tanzania is through Coffee Snobs Faircrack. The single origin range is up to 20 and there are 3 blends plus the decaff blend. The baristas are friendly, good quality and consistant. The roaster is a Diedrich 12kg and is noisy but the staff say they are still working on noise reduction. A great place to have a great coffee |

What happened? A little disappointed with the coffee lately, tends to be bitter and served luke warm. Don't ask for a sugar because you will be refused, and is very over priced for the quality. This shop used to be well priced, however the staff and quality have declined in the last few months. Very disappointed. |
